Canoeing!

The HSIP March classes were SO much fun! Canoeing in Francis Beidler Forest is always amazing. It’s one of only two old growth forests left in South Carolina so the trees are always endless and towering. After reading about blackwater swamps, it was great to spend time in one and work on some teambuilding skills during canoeing. When we came back to the Aquarium, we reviewed the reading of the Piedmont and Coastal Plain regions, learned what interpretation means and the students picked animals and plants for their interpretive presentations that will happen in our April class. This is going to be a really tough year to pick the summer interns and we can’t wait until our next classes!
